I also have one of those Tamiya gearboxes — pretty well made.

The other one must be reverse-engineered. From my experience, it wouldn’t be easy to run that reliably under full load. I’ve made many 3D-printed, simpler differentials, and they always had some issues under full load. If I had plenty of time, I would develop a truly functioning 2-speed gearbox.
